Illinois

Did you know that paint, crayons, and bubble gum are grown in Illinois? That’s because these, and hundreds of other products you use every day, are made from corn, soybeans, even cattle and pigs, that are raised on farms all around you.

Popcorn

Illinois is the third largest grower of popcorn. In fact, it is our state snack food!

Ice Cream

Your ice cream is provided by 680 dairy farms in Illinois!

Pumpkins

Somebody mention pumpkins? Illinois farmers grow the most in the nation!

Soybeans

Illinois is the #1 producer of soybeans in the United States. You’ll find them in animal feed, peanut butter, glue, and medicine.

Eggs

Chickens on Illinois farms lay 4.07 billion eggs in a year. WOW! That’s a lot of omelets.

Field Corn

We eat sweet corn, but not field corn. You see field corn growing along the road. It is used in more than 4,000 products, and Illinois grows the second most in the country.
